ARTIST STATEMENT

My projects have always been a reaction to the environments that I inhabit.
With nature and ecology being the unifying principles that guide my work,
the natural environment intensifies my desire to look more closely at life
supporting systems. Documenting transformations in the landscape that
occur as a result of urban and suburban pressures informs both my
research and art projects. Humor sometimes helps make serious issues
more palatable and inclusive.

Past projects have involved collaborations with people from other
disciplines and ranged from small non-sanctioned acts (seed bombs)
to funded projects that focused on environmental issues that needed
creative attention and solutions. I’ve used various methods to intervene
with degraded and compromised landscapes in order to restore local
wildlife and sustainable native plant systems.
